Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior, speaking during a press engagement at the 2026 LSK Annual Conference in Diani, emphasized the need to protect Kenya’s Constitution, rule of law and democratic institutions.
He called for an independent and courageous legal profession, urging lawyers to defend human rights, promote accountability and challenge abuse of power regardless of political interests. He also stressed that government institutions must respect constitutional checks and balances and operate transparently.
Overall, his message was that Kenya’s democratic gains can only be protected when leaders respect the Constitution, institutions remain independent, and lawyers continue to stand up for justice, accountability and the rule of law.
